The Enterprise Architecture Book Is Out—What Comes Next?
Reflections on publishing, conversations, and what comes after finishing a book
The book is finally out.
About a year ago, I started the process of rewriting my Finnish enterprise architecture (EA) book for an international audience. After months of translating, condensing, editing, reviewing, and explaining EA to new audiences, there’s that quiet moment when you realize it’s done.
It’s both a relief and a strange kind of silence—at least for a moment. Because in truth, the work doesn’t stop here. It just shifts from writing to sharing, from structuring ideas to bringing them into conversations.
And yes, part of that means talking about the book, again and again. But that’s not marketing in the traditional sense. It’s continuing the work: making sure the ideas find their audience, spark reflection, and maybe even change how people think about EA.
In many ways, this is where it gets interesting again. The conversations that start after publishing are often more rewarding than the writing itself.
From Writing to Conversations
Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll get to talk about EA with new groups and from new angles.
I’ll be guest lecturing on EA and consulting—always one of my favorite things to do. Students tend to ask the questions that professionals have stopped asking, and that’s what keeps the discussions fresh and grounded.
There’s also a podcast episode coming soon, where we’ll talk about what lightweight EA really looks like in practice—not as a theory, but as something that helps organizations make sense of change. More on that soon.
In consulting, I’m currently working on several exciting projects—from “traditional” EA to enterprise-level data modeling to EA tooling. The challenge remains the same: how to make architecture practical, used, and visible in everyday work.
And on top of that, I’m exploring new opportunities to contribute as a local EA trainer—helping more teams build the skills and shared language they need to use architecture effectively.
What Comes Next
As for the next nonfiction book… I honestly don’t know.
But there’s more writing on the way. My debut novel and a children’s book are already with their publishers, currently going through editing. Once the launch of this EA book settles, I’ll get to turn my attention to new projects.
What I do know is that the most meaningful part of this whole journey has never been the book itself. It’s the way writing helps clarify thoughts—and the conversations it sparks with students and professionals who are all trying to make sense of how organizations (and people) really change.
Thank You—and an Invitation
To everyone who’s been part of this journey so far: thank you.
For your questions, encouragement, and honest feedback.
If you’ve already read the book—or followed these posts—I’d love to hear what resonated most, or what you’d like to see next.
Because even though the book is out, the conversation is only just beginning.
